The first year, athletes came to take part. The second year, they came to take the title.

By the time Meras returned on Friday, 2 May 2025, at Kallos Fitness in Doha, everything had changed except the bars. The first edition had proven Qatar could hold a real calisthenics championship. The second proved how badly people now wanted to win it. Companies wanted their names on it too. Peninsuler, Oak Berry, Alkaline, and others stood behind the event, the kind of backing that turns a competition into something the whole city notices.

The field was harder than it had ever been. These were no longer athletes discovering the sport. They were competitors who had trained a full year with one target in mind, and it showed in every movement, in the focus on every face. At this level the margins were brutal. One incomplete rep, one wobble out of a handstand, one second of hesitation, and the podium slipped to someone hungrier.

The crowd grew with the stakes. Spectators packed tighter around the floor and pushed their voices into every effort, and when two athletes worked the same movement side by side, that noise became part of the contest itself. You could hear the room react to the man next to you. You had to answer it, or watch him pull ahead.

That is where calisthenics stops being physical and becomes something else. Your body has another rep in it. The question is whether your mind will command it while a hundred people watch and your competitor refuses to quit. Meras 2025 was won and lost in exactly those moments.

When it settled, Abdulaziz Al Hassawi stood at the top, ahead of Abdulrahman Al Maadadi and Sabah Al Kuwari. QAR 25,000 went to the champion, and the top ten were rewarded down the line.

If you were in that crowd, you felt it. That pull that says maybe, one day, that could be me up there. It is not as far away as it looks. Every athlete on that floor started as someone in the crowd who decided watching was no longer enough.

The bars are open. The only question is when will you step up to them.
